Well all,
Yesterday we went on a boat tour around the bays of Copenhagen. It was interesting to see all the new developments and hear a little about the history. It was VERY sunny yesterday and I definitely felt it. After the boat tour, my group had a little interview with our tour guide and he gave us a little something to work with in our documentary. We walked through the busy downtown area on our way back to the hostel, then headed over to the park and drink a few brewskies. Yes, it is completely legal to drink in public whenever and wherever you want. And it sure makes for some interesting sights during the day…
Today the weather was amazing. I am actually dealing with a little case of sunburn!! My face and neck are a little on the crispy side. Haha. Anyway, we had an interesting breakfast that consisted of sandwiches, and then visited a couple of Architecture firms. One is doing more large-scale projects that we have seen around Denmark, and the other is focused largely on the social aspects of urban planning.
I’ve done a lot of walking around and seeing quite a few things. I am still getting used to all the currency exchanges as well as battling the time change. Its not too bad but we all wake up at strange times in the night and sometimes I need a small nap in the middle of the day just to recharge.
Tomorrow we are headed to Sweden for the day. Its about an hour train ride… So I guess we are going to do a lot of walking around and looking at some neighborhood developments that are working and some that are not. I guess we are supposed to see something that is “shocking” and “amusing” all at the same time… but I will wait to decide after I see what it is.
I am still shocked at the emphasis and use of the bike here. If you are not on a bike, you need to watch out. They have their own bike lanes down all major streets. And most side streets are a mix of walking and biking with only a few cars allowed. If you are not careful, you will get run over or yelled at by someone on a bike! It’s funny to see how large some of the things that they will carry around. (a couple of small trees for instance) Right now, I just finished a small nap, and am going to get ready to go out for dinner and a drink. Things are very expensive, so we are trying to stay to one meal a day if we can.
I hope the Internet here is fast enough to post pictures. I know I had a little difficulty with it yesterday, but otherwise, I can just wait until we get to Iceland to post some pictures. And I've posted some under the last post!!!
